Experience
Stephano Salani is a seasoned Intellectual Property lawyer licensed to practice law in Ontario, the District of Columbia, and Florida, and is a registered attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Stephano’s practice encompasses patent application drafting, prosecution, patentability assessments, and patent litigation, as well as trademark, design, and copyright prosecution and litigation. He also coordinates international IP strategies for clients and advises on licensing agreements, assignments, and NDAs.
His technical expertise spans a broad range of fields including medical devices, automotives, energy systems, computer networks, aerospace, robotics, electronics, software, industrial processes, and materials science. Stephano has experience in managing complex intellectual property portfolios and disputes, helping clients protect and leverage their innovations effectively.
Stephano holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with second class honours from the University of Melbourne and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Florida International University College of Law, where he was recognized with multiple academic awards and served as President of the Intellectual Property Student Association. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, graduating with cum laude honours.
In addition to his legal practice, Stephano has contributed academically as an Adjunct Professor of Law, teaching advanced intellectual property topics including emerging issues such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse. He is a published author on IP law topics, actively participates in international IP forums, and is currently pursuing Canadian Patent and Trademark Agent qualifications, which are expected to be completed in 2026.
